Cardio Overkill
I have just come back from 2 hours of torture at the gym. One hour of spinning class and an hour of zumba back to back!
I - AM - KNACKERED!
I don't think I can walk for a week. This was my second time trying out spin class. The first time was a couple of months ago and I really hated it. My ass hurt and my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest, I was gasping for air. I didn't feel so good.
This time around I was expecting the worst but determined to plow through it. It wasn't too bad actually. I didn't feel sick like last time. My ass didn't hurt so much thanks to the chamois, and I kept an even breathing rhythm which helped my stamina a lot. Granted, I'm a lot more fit than I was 2 months. Now I LOVE spin class and intend to take it 2-3 times a week.
Yay!

I'm Awesome
because...
1) I was the only one in class who answered a very difficult question right, and I was awarded extra credit points!!! My average is now A+++! :D
2) I'm now able to get through Zumba class without huffing and puffing! AND we were introduced to new choreography which was tricky and I was the only one who got it! Yes, I do believe I can call myself a dancer now. A sign I need more of a challenge.

Body Rhythms and Pigging Out!
Oh my God!
After working out, I was so famished I went to taco bell (I usually don't eat fast food) and ordered 2 chicken soft tacos and a nacho supreme. I engulfed it. That didn't quite satisfy me so I went to McDonald's and ordered large fries.
I don't know what the hell came over me, I was craving fast food really bad. Maybe I'm not eating enough calories?
I also kept taking little breaks during Zumba class because I was knackered. I gave it my all again like last time but a bit tired. Just when I was doing so well. My body rhythm is pooh!

Wishlist: Fierce Dansneaker - Capezio - Dancewear Solutions
Fierce Dansneaker - Capezio - Dancewear Solutions
The Capezio Fierce Dansneaker is a super lightweight shoe with a patented Arch Support System. Includes the new non-marking PU outsole with built-in flex points to prevent gapping. The breathable mesh and removable insole fight odors and continue good air circulation to the feet. Capezio’s Fierce also features heel pull on tabs for an easy shoe change.
This shoe would be perfect for zumba class. The sneakers I'm wearing now makes it difficult to pivot which in good time will eventually mess up my knees.

Overwhelmed
I missed school today. I didn't sleep at all last night and have had this problem for two weeks. Everything is hitting me at once for some reason. I don't know why.I feel so overwhelmed with school and thinking about the future, and the long road of school, and the visa process which I haven't even begun yet because I'm still in SCHOOL and I NEED A JOB but how am I going to finish SCHOOL on schedule if I am WORKING FULLTIME because I need a steady paycheck so I can sign the affidavit of support. And how am I going to put in my VOLUNTEER HOURS AT THE HOSPITAL to get into PHARMACY SCHOOL if I'm WORKING FULLTIME. And how am I going to get a HIGH GPA and get into PHARMACY SCHOOL if I am WORKING FULLTIME?!?!?! Blah, blah, blah....This is the chatter in my head that keeps me awake.
When I am overwhelmed, I want to hide from the world. I want to stay in bed with the covers over my head hoping I could disappear. But this just makes it worse.
This is my second week of school and I'm already starting to burn out. I have a shitload of chapters from 5 books to read. I have to read The Wall Street Journal every day from front to back. I have to do a dietary assessment every day. It seems like the hours and hours and hours I spend studying, I feel like I'm never caught up. I'm about to go postal. And missing class today isn't helping my situation.
So, when things get really tough. I always call HopAlong. He always makes everything alright. He sang me a few songs to exorcise the "crazy chatter" out of my head. This is why I picked him.
And to end with another high note, I just came back from Zumba class tonight and discovered that my stamina has gotten better. I also danced like nobody's business. For the first time in a very long time, I felt like a dancer. Good 4 Me.

Chills During Working Out = Overheating!
So I decided to up my game and do Pilates and Zumba back to back. Pilates was torture and I was sweating profusely! I thought nothing of it and drank water throughout. Then Zumba class, after 40 minutes I started to feel chills and my skin was clammy, although I was sweating buckets I thought I was going to faint right there so I walked out of class, sat in a cool area and drank gatorade to even out my electrolyte imbalance. I felt ok but I still feel kind of weird, must be just paranoia. This is the first time this has happened to me. Oh well, lesson learned. Drink water, before, during, and after a workout. Next time I'll bring a banana and a sports drink just in case.
Has this ever happened to you?
Here's some helpful info found on sparkpeople.com:
Chills While Running?
Sounds like you may be experiencing the first symptoms before heatstroke hits (especially with chills). water is great but when you are sweating excessively and the body can't keep cool due to high humidity levels (no evaporation is allowed to help cool your down) you need to stop running and get rehydrated with a good electrolyte sports drink such as Gatorade, Powerade, or Accelerade. Drinking too much water and not replacing the lost electrolytes can lead to a potentially fatal condition known as hyponatremia (AKA low blood sodium).
Hope this helps and don't play around with any symptoms that are new, especially in the heat.

My First Dance Class in Ages
I attended a zumba class this evening. I was surprised I still have coordination I could get the complicated footwork. The only thing is that I can't maintain it for long because I have no endurance. Boy it's a real workout. I have forgotten how hard dance was. It's much different than running on an elliptical trainer or a treadmill. With dance you use your entire body. On top of that, you have to think about rhythm, coordination, choreography, artistic and emotional expression.
This is my first zumba class and it's really fun. I like the fact they incorporate a lot of latin, hip hop, and BELLYDANCE moves. The class runs twice a week. Hopefully by 6 months I will have fulfilled resolution #4: Be smoking hot!
